hackett-london-bespoke-denim-frontSelectism Columnist, Kyle Hackett, turns us onto Hackett of London’s Bespoke Selvedge Denim in his continuing hunt for denim. Details are the charmer on these slim fit jeans made from 13.5oz selvedge – the back pocket has a nice red stitched “H” while the selvedge end shows through on the front coin pocket. Thanks for the heads up, Kyle.

Levi’s Vintage Clothing 501 XX 1966 Model

December 27, 2008

levis-vintage-clothing-501xx-1966-denim-1Having been the subject of various collaborative efforts which follow a similar style to what is seen here, Levi’s Vintage Clothing takes matter into their own hands with the creation of “The Journey” and “The Ragged Point” 501XX 1966. The denim as the name suggests for “The Journey”, is a well-worn pair of denim with a number of rips, stains and tears alongside custom patches. “The Ragged Point” is on a similar concept with strong wear on the lap in addition to paint splatter. These are not the most organic and authentic offerings from LVC with most people accustomed to their raw offerings, but something fans of well-worn and distressed denim will appreciate. Available now at Levi’s Japan.

Jordan Countdown Pack XI and XII

December 20, 2008

jordancountdownpack-11-12-frontSince the announcement of the Jordan countdown packs, it is safe to say the majority of enthusiasts having been counting down until December – the release of the XI and XII. These are the sneakers that solidified legend. They represent complete dominance. The XI speaks for itself, with the black and red colorway being one of the grandest in the collection. Couple that with the XII, a more understated but almost equal design, and you’re walking home with the cream of the middle-number Jordan’s.

Proper is among those fine retailers to have the XI and XII today, December 20, 2008.

Considering Ripped Jeans

December 20, 2008

gq-denim-loresGQ ran this shot in September, and I think it is one of the best versions of ripped/worn jeans I have seen in a while.

I can’t bring myself to buy “pre-ripped” jeans.

I was looking at a few pairs of my old jeans (the ones I was debating whether to taper the leg or to leave full) and realized that I have a very specific wear pattern to my jeans that is as personal as a fingerprint (and probably everyone does). Now that I realize it – I would feel self-conscious wearing ripped jeans that didn’t have the fraying on the right thigh left by my keys, or the abrasions on the coin pocket. I was surprised that even the stitching on the back pocket of the jeans was popped in the same manner and location on both pairs (stupid wallet).

Is there a rinse that I can use to slightly “re-darken” the denim?
I think the color now is great, but they will only get lighter and I want to keep them in them close to this shade.  Thanks to the :
